K9 Cash Partner Bonus:

The infographic below illustrates how Adoption Partners can earn with our K9 Cash Partner Bonus program – including Monthly Cash Bonuses and how that integrates with our established Adoption Partner Rewards program.

Adopt Joy™ Adoption Events:

We are partnering with PetSmart to host monthly adoption events focused on dogs, called Adopt Joy™ adoption events.

Event dates are January 17, February 21, April 25, May 23, June 27, August 22, September 26, December 5, and January 16, 2027.

In addition to the Adopt Joy™  event dates, we will be holding National Adoption Week in March (3/23-3/29), July (7/20-7/26), and October (10/19-10/25). Participation in all of our monthly advertised and store-supported events will help you earn rewards even faster, so be sure to take advantage of each of those opportunities.

Adopt Joy™ adoption events

What are Adopt Joy™ adoption events?

Adopt Joy™ events are our monthly national adoption events which add more in-store opportunities to drive dog adoptions, as well as opportunities for adoption partners to earn K9 Cash Partner Bonuses.

What are the dates for the Adopt Joy™ adoption events?

The Adopt Joy™ events will take place on the following dates:

January 17, February 21, April 25, May 23, June 27, August 22, September 26, December 5, and January 16, 2027.

*Indicates an event that coincides with a National Adoption Week Saturday.

What if my PetSmart store doesn't want to host adoption events?

If your PetSmart store needs a little extra push to start hosting adoption events, we encourage you to visit our Grants page and reach out to your assigned Adoption Grant Manager here to discuss how we can help lower the threshold to becoming an adoption event host.

I am new to dog adoption events, where can I go to learn more to set myself up for success?

You can learn more about being a PetSmart Charities Adoption Partner and hosting adoption events in Fetch Find, our education platform.

K9 Cash

Am I able to earn K9 Cash and 2-for-1 Adoption Rewards on the dates that fall during National Adoption Week?

Yes, the K9 Cash Partner Bonuses are an additional bonus on top of the normal Adoption Rewards. You can read more about the normal adoption rewards here.

Can I only earn the Monthly Cash Bonus on completed adoptions during the Adopt Joy™ adoption events?

No, you can earn K9 Cash Partner Bonuses throughout the entire month in the form of Monthly Cash Bonuses.

Can I only bring dogs to the monthly Adopt Joy™ adoption events?

No, all pets are welcome! However, K9 Cash Partner Bonuses only apply to dog adoptions.

Where can I find my dog adoption total from last year?

All adoption reports can be found in AME.

What if I'm a new partner and don't have adoptions from last year?

If you are a new partner, all your dog adoptions will be considered incremental and will be eligible for K9 Cash Partner Bonuses.

Do cats or other species adoptions count towards the K9 Cash Partner Bonuses?

No, only dog adoptions will count towards this special incentive program.

How will I receive my K9 Cash Partner Bonuses?

K9 Cash Partner Bonuses, in the form of Monthly Cash Bonuses, will be paid out by the end of the next month after the rewards are earned.

AME

I did adoptions outside of Adoptions Made Easy (AME), do those count?

No, all adoptions conducted at a PetSmart store must be entered in AME at the time of the adoption and the adoption release form must be signed by the adopter.

I don't see all our adoptions in AME reporting, what should I do?

Some adoptions may still be "in process." Review your "in process" adoptions under the Adoptions tab in AME first. If your adoptions are not there, you can contact us at adoptions@petsmartcharities.org to discuss what may be going wrong. Please note any corrections cannot be backdated, therefore whatever is in AME will be part of the rewards calculation.

Check out the information below to learn how to utilize the Adoptions Made Easy (AME) system to easily track your K9 Cash throughout the year.

Log into AME and click on the Reports icon at the top of the page.
Select the “Adoptions by Pet” on the drop-down menu in the upper-right corner.
To filter for Dog Only adoptions for the K9 Cash eligibility, use the filtering options below:
1. Partner: Type in the name of your organization, click on the name that appears on the box, and then click Apply.
2. Pet Type: To filter for dog adoptions that are eligible for K9 Cash bonuses, select Dog from the dropdown menu.
3. Adoption Validated: Select Validated to display all completed adoptions.
4. Adoption Start Date and Adoption End Date: Filter for specific dates by entering a start and/or end date for adoptions.

Monthly Cash Bonus: The Monthly Cash Bonus is based on incremental dog adoptions over the same time period in 2024. As an example, if a group did 50 adoptions in July 2026 and 45 adoptions in July 2025, the difference between 2026 and 2025 (50 – 45 = 5 incremental) would result in the group earning $500 (5 incremental dog adoptions x $100 per dog). We recommend running a report at the beginning of the month for 2025 dog adoptions, so you know what your baseline number is, then run the same report at the end of the current month in the current year to see how you did and determine what incremental dog adoptions you completed and are eligible for the bonus. Adoptions must be started and completed within the month to be considered eligible for K9 Cash rewards.

Helpful Tip: The reporting in AME defaults to 12 months so if you are unable to select the month last year or it’s grayed out, try changing the end date first, then you should be able to change the start date.

Useful Additional Reports:
Ongoing Transactions Report - This report lists all of the adoptions that have not been finalized and therefore are not eligible for incentives in their current state. Use this report to identify pending adoptions and finalize them as appropriate.

To run the report, select Ongoing Transactions from the drop-down menu at the top right-hand side of the page. You can use any of the filters to find specific adoptions.

If you would like to download a report, click on the Download link at the bottom left-hand side of the page. When the download is complete, a notification will appear, and clicking on the Open Now link will convert the report to an Excel document that can be opened and saved for future use.
